Badly stained lime mortar above this window head drew the eye for all the wrong reasons.
Staining removed and brick cleaned by hand using lightly applied bristle and copper wire brushes and natural acid.
The original jointing of the surrounding brickwork was overhand struck. This profile was carefully carved into the hardened lime mortar joints so that they corresponded in profile to those above and to the left and right.
The joints and bricks were then toned in with the surrounding work by using lamp black and dark yellow ochres to make the intervention practically invisible from ground level.
